A man who was found in possession of 752.l4 grams of marijuana has been sentenced to 18 months imprisonment by the Labasa High Court.
Anare Yabakidrau had pleaded guilty to a charge of unlawful possession of marijuana.
It was heard in court that Yabakidrau, was arrested in December 2018 at the foreshore of Savusavu Town for being in possession of marijuana.
Police officers approached some youths drinking in Savusavu to warn them about drinking in that spot, when they suddenly saw Yabakidrau run towards the mangroves with a bag.
The officers gave chase because they suspected Yabakidrau to have committed or about to commit a crime.
