Man in custody after alleged assault on bus driver

A 37-year-old man is in police custody following the alleged assault of a bus driver in Nausori on Friday.

The suspect allegedly assaulted the driver after he claimed the driver's failure to wait for him at the bus stand when he was trying to board the bus with leftover produce he was selling at the market.

The suspect is alleged to have followed the bus driver up to Toga Road where he committed the offence.

A video is being circulated online which shows the driver being punched in the head, ribs and his back several times.

The man is then seen getting off the bus after the incident.

He remains in custody at the Nausori Police Station as investigations continue.
