A man is still fighting for his life at the Lautoka Hospital after their vehicle collided with an EFL post along Queens Road in Malaqere, Sigatoka last Saturday.

Police have also confirmed that the driver was a 17-year-old student who was intoxicated during the time of the accident.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operation Livai Driu says the driver has been interviewed, and released after he ran away from the scene of the accident. ACP Driu says the driver was conveying 4 passengers when he lost control of the vehicle and collided with an EFL post.

A 34-year-old passenger was sent home yesterday after being admitted at Lautoka Hospital, while the third passenger has been treated and sent home as well. Police say an investigation into the incident continues as the driver and the fourth passenger were drunk.
