Police have confirmed that a 53-year-old man who allegedly jumped off the tray of the vehicle he was travelling in has passed away.
The deceased and another man were sitting on the tray of the vehicle and were headed to the Nacegagea Forestry camp in Nabukelevu Village in Namosi when the alleged incident occurred yesterday.
Their vehicle started to roll backwards due to the muddy road conditions and the two men had to jump out of the tray.
The man’s head allegedly hit a hard object when he jumped off the vehicle.
He was taken to the Korovisilou Health Centre where he was pronounced dead.
The other passenger escaped serious injuries.
Investigations continue.
