Man convicted of arson sentenced to three years imprisonment

A 22-year-old man convicted of arson has been sentenced to three years imprisonment after he had pleaded guilty to the charge.

The court was told that Etuate Serevi set fire to the house of a 54-year-old market vendor on the 14th of November at Korovou Village last year.

High Court Judge Justice Salesi Temo stated that it takes a lot of money and energy to build a house in the village.

He added that Serevi was cruel and should not complain when his liberty is taken away from him.

A non-parole period of two years has been fixed for Serevi.
