A 38-year-old unemployed man of Vidogo Settlement in Vatuwaqa who allegedly beat another man to death on New Year’s Day will appear in the Suva Magistrate court tomorrow.
He is charged with a count of murder. It is alleged that on New Year’s Eve, the victim, a 32-year-old manager, joined the suspect with six others in a drinking party.
Police say at around 10am on New Year’s Day, a fight started where the suspect allegedly assaulted the victim until he laid motionless on the floor.
They say the suspect conveyed the victim to the CWM Hospital, where he later passed away.
Police say investigation had established what had transpired from the statements of the six eye witnesses who were part of the drinking party.
