Man charged with allegedly assaulting bus driver in Samabula to appear in court today

The man who allegedly assaulted a bus driver in Samabula early yesterday morning has been charged and will appear in the Suva Magistrates Court today.

Central Transport driver Roneel Chand says he was punched in the head and neck by a passenger after refusing to stop at a yellow line in Samabula.

While speaking to fijivillage News, Chand says the passenger tried to get off the bus and flee, but his quick thinking allowed him to shut the door in time and drive to the Samabula Police Station, where the passenger was arrested.

The man is charged with one count of assault and remains in police custody.
