The Sri Lankan government has said major lapses in intelligence had contributed to its failure to prevent the deadly suicide bombings on Easter Sunday.

Sri Lanka’s President Maithripala Sirisena has asked his Defence Secretary and Police Chief to resign after failing to pass on warnings of the attack.

The death toll rose to 359 and more suspects have been arrested.
