Magistrate grants Ratu Lote’s lawyer more time to prepare case

Suva Magistrate Charles Ratakele has granted Ratu Lote Lewaivuna’s lawyer, Kalisito Maisamoa, more time to review disclosures and prepare for his client’s case.

Ratu Lote and Sevuloni Lubi appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court this morning, jointly charged with two counts of unlawful possession of illicit drugs and unlawful importation of illicit drugs.

Lewaivuna is also charged with possession of property suspected to be proceeds of crime, for allegedly being in possession of $650, suspected to be proceeds of crime.

Ratu Lote’s lawyer, Maisamoa, told the court that it has been difficult to contact the remandees in custody.

Magistrate Ratakele granted Maisamoa 14 days to review the disclosures.

The case has been adjourned to the 13th of next month.
