Madrid 7s: Fiji Men’s 7s secure cup SF spot after 26-7 win over Blitzboks

The Fiji Airways Men’s 7s team has continued their fine performance at the HSBC Madrid 7s after a solid 26-7 win over South Africa.

Veteran playmaker Jerry Tuwai scored the first try one minute into the first half, while Tira Wilagi and speedster Waisea Nacuqu added two more to put Fiji in a comfortable 21-0 lead at half time.

Vuiviawa Naduvalo extended Fiji’s lead further in the second half, scoring in the 11th minute.

Blitzboks speedster Rosco Specman hit back for South Africa, scoring their only try in the dying seconds of the game.

In earlier matches, Uruguay beat Germany 26-14, USA edged Canada 14-7, while Chile upset Samoa 21-19.

The cup semi finals will be played from at 10:21pm tonight.

Meanwhile the men’s cup final kicks off at 6:26am Monday.
