Madigibuli files bail application with fear of contracting HIV
Apisai Madigibuli

Apisai Madigibuli, who allegedly murdered his 25-year-old wife last year has filed a bail application as he fears the risk of contracting HIV.

Madigibuli is charged with one count of murder.

It is alleged that he killed his wife at an apartment complex along Robertson Road in Suva in April last year.

When Judge Justice Dane Tuiqereqere asked him why should bail be granted, Madigibuli responded that he wanted to find a private lawyer as his lawyer was not representing him properly.

Justice Tuiqereqere says that finding a private lawyer is not the court’s function and he can ask the Legal Aid Commission for a replacement.

He also asked the State to check if HIV is spreading in the remand centre and what is being done to reduce it.

The matter is adjourned to the 20th of May for mention.
