MV Veivueti medical team conduct their first emergency Caesarean section operation in Lautoka

The Fiji Emergency Medical Assistance Team onboard the MV Veivueti today conducted their first emergency Caesarean section operation.

While thanking the medical team, Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama says the delivery team included a retired midwife, one of the many good-hearted heroes who have come forward to do what they can to help Fiji ride out this crisis.

He says the mother and her new baby boy are both doing well.

With Lautoka Hospital serving as a wholly-dedicated COVID care facility, the MV Veivueti, the medical carrier vessel, has been deployed to offer non-COVID health services, including maternity care.
