The leaders of the Melanesian Spearhead Group will take Fiji's case to the Pacific Islands Leaders Forum next month's meeting in Cairns, Australia.
Radio Australia reports said the decision was reached during a meeting of Prime Ministers of Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu, and they have also showed their support for the lifting of the suspension of Fiji from the Pacific Islands Forum.
The announcement came at the end of a day-long meeting of the leaders at a retreat in Vanuatu.
Radio Australia reported that the chairman of the group and Vanuatu Prime Minister Edward Natapei said the leaders praised Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama's Strategic Framework for Change laid out in a recent address.
Papua New Guinea Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare said he is convinced that some of Bainimarama's plans were good for Fiji.
Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama is pleased that they have accepted government's presentation on the roadmap to democracy, and said the meeting was timely as the summit was held just a few weeks before the Pacific Islands Leaders Forum in Australia.
Commodore Bainimarama's presentation was based on the national address last week where he announced that the government will concentrate on the economy for the next three years.
He revealed that work on a new constitution which will see a non-race based electoral system, start in 2012.
Work on the new constitution is expected to be completed by September 2013 and elections is scheduled to be held in September 2014.
