Lodge complaints if charged by JPs and Commissioner of Oaths - CJ
Chief Justice Anthony Gates

Chief Justice Anthony Gates is requesting members of the public to come forward and lodge their complaints about being charged by Justice of Peace and Commissioner of Oaths instead of voicing their concerns to the media.

Chief Justice Gates says they have received numerous complaints from people in previous years and they have investigated cases where detailed complaints have been received.

Chief Justice Gates says complaints against JPs must be reported to the Permanent Secretary for Justice and complaints against Commissioner for Oaths to the Chief Registrar.

Gates says it is necessary for complainants to produce evidence to support their claims.

He adds once it is established that there is charging for Commissioner’s and JPs work, the complaint will then be investigated.

Chief Justice Gates also says sometimes it seems complaints are lodged for other reasons, prior enmity or professional jealousy.
