English Premier League leaders Liverpool have shown their support for the 'Black Lives Matter' movement.

Players from the current European champions posted pictures on their social media accounts of the squad taking a knee at training with the caption; "Unity is strength #BlackLivesMatter."

The gesture of support stems from the death of American George Floyd at the hands of a police officer in Minneapolis a week ago.

Players including Virgil van Dijk and skipper Jordan Henderson posted the picture on their individual Twitter accounts, which were retweeted by the official account of the Liverpool Football Club.

Floyd's death has sparked days of protest across several US states and the 'Black Lives Matter' movement has resonated all across the globe.
