Lesukiyasawa fronts court for allegedly killing elderly man in Drasa, Vitogo

A 29-year-old man has been remanded in custody by the Lautoka Magistrates Court for allegedly killing 60-year-old, Joseph Wilfred Johnson in Drasa, Vitogo in Lautoka.

Alifereti Lesukiyasawa is charged with a count of murder.

It is alleged Lesukiyasawa who was heavily intoxicated punched and kicked Johnson several times at around 9.30pm last Saturday.

The court was told that Johnson was walking on the road when it is alleged Lesukiyasawa approached him and started punching him.

It is further alleged that when Johnson tried to run away, Lesukiyasawa chased him and again punched and kicked him.

Johnson was later rushed to the Lautoka Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The matter has been transferred to the Lautoka High Court which will be called on the 8th of next month.
