Law Council of Australia intends to arrange for an independent observer to attend the contested hearing against Richard Naidu in Suva
Senior practitioner, Richard Naidu

The Law Council of Australia notes that Fiji’s Attorney-General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has brought committal or contempt of court proceedings against a senior practitioner, Richard Naidu, and the council intends to arrange for an independent observer to attend the contested hearing in Suva.

The Law Council will continue to actively monitor these proceedings with a view to ensure Naidu is given a meaningful opportunity to challenge and defend the serious charges which have been levelled against him.

This will also include the opportunity to be represented by his counsel of choice.

Naidu’s case will be called next Tuesday.
