Defending champions Lautoka have kicked off their Extra Supermarket Battle of the Giants campaign with a 2-1 win over Nadroga at Subrail Park.

Mohammed Shazil was the star for the Lautoka side as he scored both goals, including one in extra time, to seal the victory and earn Player of the Match honours.

Speaking to fijivillage Sports, Shazil says Nadroga put up a strong challenge, but Lautoka remained confident and determined to fight until the final whistle.

Lautoka will now shift their focus to their next clash against Ba.

Salimone Ravonokula scored the only goal for Nadroga.

In other matches today, Suva and Nadi played to a goalless draw, while Rewa are currently playing Navua.

Host team Labasa will take on Ba at 6.30pm.
