Laucala Island Resort owner and Red Bull co-owner dies at 78

COMO Laucala Island Resort founder and owner and Red Bull co-owner Dietrich Mateschitz has died at the age of 78 after battling a long-term illness.

His death was announced to Red Bull staff ahead of qualifying for Sunday’s United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of Americas in Austin.

Mateschitz bought Laucala Island from American publishing giant Micheal Forbes and developed it into an exclusive resort.
