Lakeba villagers to appear in court today

The two men who are alleged to have forged the signatures of village elders, chiefs and representatives in a letter to the Prime Minister asking him not to come to Lakeba will appear in court today.

According to police, the two have been charged with allegedly breaching the Public Emergency Regulations.

One man has been charged with one count of malicious act and three counts of forgery.

Police have also charged his accomplice with one count of inciting and giving false information.

The two were brought in from Lakeba on Saturday following investigations that they allegedly wrote a letter to Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama informing him that he was not welcome on the island of Lakeba.

The Two are expected to appear in the Suva Magistrates court today.
