Lack of trained medical professionals

Lack of trained medical professionals
There is not only a lack in doctors but an overall lack of trained medical professionals around the country.

Dean of the Fiji School of Medicine, Dr Ian Rouse said that one of the plans is to open up a campus in Labasa followed by Tonga and in Solomon Islands which would help increase the intake of medical students which in turn would help in addressing the shortage issue.

Rouse also said that after taking up his post 6 months ago, he has noted that the only way to ensure that people get the best health service by professionals would be to branch out and open campuses around the region.
