Lack of structure and poor defensive cohesion have been the major talking points as the Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s side crashed out of the cup competition of the second leg of the Dubai 7s.

The side which is laced with a number of new players lost their opening two matches before thrashing Argentina in the final pool match.

Poor cohesion during attack and defense was clear and the opponents also capitalized on poor communication in the team.

It was also noticed that players were heavily reliant on individual skills while on attack.

Handling errors was also a major factor contributing to the team’s downfall.

Fiji lost to France 22-17 in their first pool match before going down to Spain 33-14.

The side then bounced back to thrash Argentina in their last pool match

According to World Rugby, Fiji has a total of 78 tournaments for its 13 member squad which is the fourth lowest out of all the other teams participating.

Fiji will now play Canada in the 9th place semi final at 5.44pm today.

The men's cup quarter-finals starts at 5:44pm where Australia will play Ireland, Argentina will play Great Britain, USA will take on France while South Africa will play Kenya.

The semis are at 10:24pm while the cup final will kick-off at 3:26am tomorrow.
