Vendors at the Labasa market have been exempted from paying market fees until the 31st of next month.

Minister for Local Government Premila Kumar says this decision was made after consulting market vendors in Labasa.

She says having just returned from Vanua Levu, she is aware of the stress on farmers and vendors after Tropical Cyclone Yasa.

Kumar says the availability of produce has been severely reduced and some vendors are struggling.

She says on Saturday the market had fewer vegetables in comparison to other items sold in the market.

Kumar says at the end of January, they will review to see whether this relief needs to continue.
