Labasa businesses pick up the pieces and continue clean-up with no water

The clean-up process is continuing today in communities in the Northern Division severely affected by the flooding over the weekend.

This has been a difficult process as water and electricity is being progressively restored.

In Labasa Town, businesses are hiring trucks to bring water from the Labasa river to their shops.

Labasa Chamber of Commerce President Satish Kumar says there is a lot of silt inside the shops.

The Managing Director of Ashwin Enterprises Sherin Chand says it will take a whole week to clean the mud in their three shops.

She says their shops have not been flooded in 17-years.
