Labasa is aiming to win the Vodafone Fiji FACT as a parting gift for veteran midfielder Taniela Waqa who is expected to retire after the tournament.

Waqa who played an instrumental role in Labasa’s Courts IDC title last month had said that he will end his 22-year soccer career at the end of this year.

Labasa coach Roneel Lal says the players are aware that Waqa has given a lot to Labasa and they want to show their appreciation by dedicating the tournament to him.

Lal has also confirmed that midfielder Ashnil Raju will feature in their first pool match against Rewa this Sunday but it is unclear whether he will play in the rest of the tournament as he is getting married next Saturday.

Labasa last won the the Fiji FACT in 2015 when they beat Rewa 2-0 in the final.

They take on Rewa in their first pool match at 3pm at the ANZ Stadium this Sunday while Suva takes on Navua at 1pm.

On Saturday, Ba takes on Nasinu at 1.30pm at Churchill Park while Nadi takes on Lautoka at 3.30pm.
