The Fiji Bus Operators Association has been told by the Attorney General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed‑Khaiyum that they cannot expect everybody to have a particular level of integrity and credibility if they are not transparent themselves.

Sayed‑Khaiyum highlighted this in a Question and Answer Session where he was told by the Raiwaqa Bus Company Director Ashok Kumar that bus operators are now having more expenses.

He says they want an increase in bus fare not just because of the fuel price increase but because they are now paying more than ever before.

The Minister says that he is well aware of what Kumar is trying to bring up.

Sayed‑Khaiyum has urged the bus operators to make further submissions to the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission.

He says the problem is that most of these bus companies have not submitted their audited accounts.

Sayed‑Khaiyum says as an industry the Fiji Buses Operators Association has not helped themselves.
