President Jioji Konrote is calling for inter‑faith discussions on how we can harness the power of faith to better our society.

While speaking at the National Celebration of the Prophet Mohammed’s birthday, that was held at the FMF Gymnasium.

Konrote says that the great strength of Fijian society is our diversity.

He says that our constitution proclaims us all Fijian, and it enshrines our right to practice the religion of our choosing, and our society is richer due to the many faiths that co‑exist in our country.

He stated that the Fiji Muslim League has expanded to 26 branches throughout Fiji, which have, in turn, established 17 Primary Schools and five colleges.

Konrote says that these schools have served Fijians from many faiths, ethnicities and cultural backgrounds, and their work preparing the next generation does a great service to our nation.

He encouraged the Islamic community and other religious bodies and organizations in Fiji, to come together, share experiences and address a number of challenges we face as a country.

Konrote highlighted that with a strong spiritual foundation, we can make Fiji even more productive, make our economy more sustainable and motivate the Fijian people to find financial and spiritual success for themselves and their families.

He says that Fiji has never been more united than it is today, and what we have already achieved as a nation is worthy of celebration, but we cannot rest on our laurels.
