Kivatulele overcomes challenges to lead in male-dominated school

To be good leaders, we must set a good example for the younger ones because our actions speak volumes to the students.

This has been highlighted by Year 13 Captain Apikali Lutu Kivatulele of Ratu Kadavulevu School.

Kivatulele says being selected as Year 13 Captain in a male-dominated school is a challenge, but she acknowledges the trust of her teachers and hopes to take on this role and lead her class well.

She is taking pure science.

The 18-year-old says she attended Delainakaikai Primary School and continued her studies at Ratu Kadavulevu School from Year 9 to Year 13.

Kivatulele is from Nananu Village in Tailevu and has maternal links to Nasukamai in Ra.

Lutu Kivatulele recalls that when she joined Year 9, it was challenging for her, but over time, her classmates began to see her as their sister.

She also wants to acknowledge her parents for their endless support.
