Kishore Kumar at court today

Kishore Kumar will be sentenced tomorrow for the Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs, Lenora Qereqeretabua matter after he pleaded guilty to six counts of causing harm by electronic communication and one count of criminal intimidation.

Suva Magistrate Seini Puamau will deliver her sentencing mid-day tomorrow for former school teacher.

Kumar had made false claims on his facebook page, “Kishore Kumar Publications” that there was a porn video of Qereqeretabua.

Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Moira Konrote highlighted that the video posted by Kumar insulted Qereqeretabua as she is a public figure.

Qereqeretabua also gave her victim impact statement in court, stating she was shocked when the attacks began and also her being a wife, mother, daughter and the Member of Parliament.

She says the claims were disturbing and his lies should be punished.

The Assistant Minister says Kumar made her doubt herself.

She says if you do the crime, do the time.

Qereqeretabua adds she does not want her forgiveness to affect the sentencing.

Meanwhile, Kumar also apologised by saying that he pleads guilty to repent his sins because he has done wrong.

The former school teacher says God will also hold him responsible and he is ready for the punishment wholeheartedly.

He has apologised to Qereqeretabua, her family, to the public and to the court for posting deteriorating video because of his mental health condition.

The State says they are aware of his condition but it is not yet determined if he had posted the videos when he was suffering the illness because he had stopped taking his medication.
