Assistant Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection, Sashi Kiran has met with the Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, Major General Ro Jone Kalouniwai to discuss the set-up of the National Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

Kiran says she is grateful that they have leaders who are genuinely committed to the process.

She says the Commander’s deep understanding of the challenges and his vision for Fiji is very uplifting.

The Assistant Minister says the Commission can deliver peace and healing with the right spirit and leaders committed to the process.

Kiran thanked the Commander for an engaging talanoa session and his commitment.

The Parliament of Fiji had passed a motion to set up the Truth and Reconciliation Commission last year with the hope of rebuilding and healing the nation from the past political upheavals.
