Key stakeholders meet to discuss traffic congestion in Suva Nausori corridor
The traffic at the Suva-Nausori corridor

Key stakeholders met today to look for solutions that would minimize traffic congestion in the Suva Nausori corridor in the mornings and afternoons.

LTA Manager Road Safety Education Officer Aseri Bose said they are currently looking at some short term solutions.

Bose said traffic has also increased due to some of the road works taking place.

Another option the stakeholders looked at was having a three way lane from Nausori to Suva and dedicating only one opposite lane.

Fiji Roads Authority Strategy, Planning and Performance Manager Rory Garland said this can be done.

Other solutions put forward by the stakeholders is to have Vatuwaqa Bridge as a one way traffic system during peak hours from 7am-9am.

The short term solutions will be presented to the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport later this week.
