New, New Zealand Prime Minister who defeated Helen Clark to claim the Prime Minister's seat said his first task once will be to look at the country's economic progress before anything else.
Addressing the media straight after his win, Key said that with a flow on effect from the financial crisis in America, there would be no short remedy for the crisis and therefore this was the focus of his government.
Key also added that the public had seen that it was time for a change, as their future and those of their families hung in the balance.
Earlier in the week, Deutsche Bank an international Investment Bank had warned that next year New Zealand's economy would face its biggest slowdown, where it would shrink by 0.7%, adding that unemployment would peak at 7%.
