The coach of the men’s national 7s team Gareth Baber says keeping the team and staff safe and making sure everyone is staying healthy for the delivery stage of their plan is his top priority.

Baber says there has been no positive test in the team for the last 20 weeks.

He says they are ensuring that everyone is sticking together and not exposing themselves unnecessarily.

Baber revealed that they are tested for COVID-19 everyday.

There have been positive cases reported in the Olympic Games Village in Tokyo.

Last week, Blitzboks coach Neil Powell tested positive for COVID-19 and is now forced to coach his team remotely.

Baber says there are protocols in place for when there is a positive case in the team.

The men’s Olympic 7s competition runs from tomorrow until Wednesday.

Fiji will begin their defence of the Olympic gold medal against Japan at 12pm tomorrow and then play Canada at 8pm tomorrow.

The national side will play Great Britain at 12.30pm Tuesday.

The quarterfinals will start at 8.30pm Tuesday, the semifinals will be played from 2pm Wednesday while the final will be played at 9pm Wednesday.
