With the NRL Preliminary final clash against the Penrith Panthers on the horizon, Melbourne Storm enforcer Tui Kamikamica has revealed he plans to begin his Australian citizenship application next year.

Kamikamica has also revealed how the 2016 pre-season was his last chance to earn an NRL contract as far as both he and the Australian Department of Immigration were concerned.

The 27-year-old says his visa was due to expire in the second week of February that year and there were concerns he was going to be deported.

He says the NRL contract with the Storm prevented that from happening.

The Fiji Bati forward has once again been named in the Storm team that take on the Panthers at 6pm tomorrow.

In the first preliminary final, the Sea Eagles take on the Rabbitohs at 9.50 tonight.
