Judge orders for a psychiatric evaluation of alleged arsonist

High Court Judge, Justice Daniel Goundar has ordered that a psychiatric evaluation be done for the man who allegedly burnt down his rented house in Nadawa last week.

Justice Goundar says this is to determine whether the man is fit to stand trial or take his plea.

He has been charged with one count of arson and two counts of attempted murder.

It is alleged that the man set the house on fire and attempted to harm his two sons aged 10 years and 1 year 9 months.

The court was told that the man is also a former patient of St Giles and CWM Hospital due to his suicide attempts.

The case will be called on the 10th of next month.
