Japanese Navy vessel JS KIRISAME will be at the Suva Port from next Monday to Thursday.

The Japanese Embassy says this port visit is a part of Indo-Pacific Deployment and the objectives of the deployment are to improve JMSDF tactical capabilities and to strengthen cooperation with partner navies in the Indo-Pacific region through joint exercises and secondly to contribute to the peace and stability of the region and to enhance mutual understanding and relationship with partner countries through the deployment.

The Embassy says during the port call, the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, JS KIRISAME and Embassy of Japan will jointly promote their friendship with several exchange programmes.

The ship is led by Commander Atsushi SAKATA, along with 180 crew members.
