I’ve lived with knee pain for years — Fijian man seeks help from Chinese medical team
45-year-old Meli Masibukui

Many Fijians are flocking to the Vodafone Arena this week to receive free medical services provided by the crew of the Silk Road Ark, a Chinese naval hospital ship currently docked in Suva.

Among them is 45-year-old Meli Masibukui, who has been living with arthritis stemming from a knee injury he sustained in 2004.

Masibukui told fijivillage News that he only learned about the free medical outreach when staff at the CWM Hospital advised him to visit the Chinese team at Vodafone Arena.

He says he hopes the Chinese staff will be able to help him with his condition, as he has been living with this knee pain for years.

Masibukui is also encouraging the public to get their check-ups done while the opportunity is there.

Patients undergo initial check-ups at Vodafone Arena Hall B, where they are screened before being transported via shuttle to the hospital ship for more advanced treatment if needed.

Clinic days will continue tomorrow, October 5 and 6, with service hours from 8am to 1lam and 1.30pm to 5pm.

All individuals seeking medical care are reminded to bring a valid ID for registration purposes.
