The Republic of Fiji Military Forces was conducting a military exercise in the residential areas in Narere, Nakasi and Davuilevu on Tuesday and Wednesday, and members of the public are reminded that this is a normal training procedure and for them not to worry or panic.

A video of the military training taken by a resident has caused quite a stir showing a few gunmen riding at the back of two four-wheel drive rental vehicles in civillian clothes, and shooting at targets.

Many people are calling for information on military exercises to be widely publicised in the media.

Questions have been sent to the military as these men were not in military uniform, and this caused a major panic amongst the residents.

The RFMF says the drills involved the use of blanks and pyrotechnics for battle noise simulation.

They say all safety measures were taken prior to the training exercise.
