Attorney General and Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says it’s a great ‘madua’ (shameful) situation when we will tell the Aussies and the Kiwis that only 50,000 Fijians have downloaded the careFIJI App.
This was stated by Sayed-Khaiyum while speaking to the staff of the Westin Denarau Island Resort and Spa in Nadi on the careFIJI App.
He says the moment Fiji has a community outbreak, they will be looking at us as an unsafe country.
Sayed-Khaiyum says the government has proposed the Bula Bubble to welcome back holidaymakers from Australia and New Zealand after meeting a set of COVID-19 requirements.
He says with more Fijians downloading the app, it will be easier for the government to market Fiji.
The Minister says when we talk to the Australians and the Kiwis, we can say to them that 50% of the Fijian population has the careFIJI App, so in their mind, the tourist will think if they come to Fiji it is safe.
He is urging everyone that they should download the app.
