Minister for Economy, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says the question that needs to be asked is how responsive is the government and the society in Fiji to the interests, demands and the needs for the future of those below the age of 40.

While speaking at the closing of the Youth Empowerment Rally and concert at the VOU Hub in Denarau last night, Sayed-Khaiyum says about 65% of the Fijian population is below the age of 35 and over 70% is below the age of 40.

He says the people over the age of 40 are the minority and are only 30% and this is why it is critically important to be able to hear each other.

He says sometimes there is a lack of understanding from perhaps the majority and the minority too.

Youth Empowerment Rally and concert featured cultural displays, workshops, food stalls and motivational speakers, authentic cultural dances from various youth groups and cultural backgrounds from Fiji, Rotuma, Kiribati, Tonga, Samoa and Tuvalu.
