Investment levels need to increase to have stable economic growth in Fiji.
The newly appointed Governor of the Reserve Bank of Fiji Sada Reddy said investments are desperately needed and he hopes that the devaluation of the Fiji dollar will turn things around and we have accelerated investments.
Reddy now hopes that the business sector will increase investments in the country.
Meanwhile, people will be affected by the devaluation but they can be spared to a great extent if they move away from using or consuming a lot of imported items.
Reddy said locally produced items are the way to go.
He said there was no option but to devalue the dollar and increase the dollars coming through exports, remittances and tourism and reduce the consumption of imported items.
Reddy said in recent months, things were also not looking good due to the huge impact of the global financial crisis.
