Investigation underway concerning claims made on Facebook about a man being allegedly thrown from Naqia Village bridge

An investigation is underway concerning serious claims made in a post on Facebook about a man being allegedly thrown from the Naqia Village bridge in Wainibuka, Tailevu on Saturday.

A person claims through the Facebook post which has been widely shared that the man was allegedly thrown off the bridge by police officers in civilian clothing, assaulted and an attempt was also allegedly made to drown him in the river.

The Police Commissioner says he has directed an investigation into these claims and if it turns out to be a false allegation then they will also investigate those spreading this information.

Qiliho has continuously reiterated that the Fiji Police Force has no place for officers who abuse their authority, and will not hesitate to remove anyone found to be doing so.
