Acting Commissioner of Police Juki Fong Chew says investigations into the police officer who was involved in an alleged assault in Nausori, is into its final stages.
A post on social media claims the man, who was allegedly assaulted had reported to the police officer that his brother had been punched.
It is alleged that instead of helping the man out, the officer put him in the vehicle and hit him on the head then continued to beat him at the station.
Chew had earlier said officers are constantly reminded to uphold the rule of law in the execution of their duties as they are all equally answerable to the law.
