Investigation into alleged scam by individuals posing as govt officials and selling food assistance forms
Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission CEO Joel Abraham

The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission is investigating an alleged scam by individuals posing as government officials and selling food assistance forms.

FCCC says a concerned consumer in Nadi contacted them regarding a form that was being distributed by several people in the Nadi market on Tuesday claiming to represent the Fijian government.

It says these individuals allegedly charged $1 for each food assistance form.

CEO Joel Abraham says it is unfortunate that some individuals are taking advantage of the current situation to exploit vulnerable Fijians with promises of help.

Abraham says Fijian consumers need to be careful and watch out for unethical people looking to make easy money.
