Permanent Secretary for Waterways and Environment Joshua Wycliffe says farmers need to be aware of how biodiversity helps connect everything from the type of plant life to the type of animals that can help boost soil nutrition.

While speaking at the launch of Fiji’s 6th National report to the Convention on Biodiversity, Wycliffe says this will increase the output of farms.

He says that innovation into biological diversity can also help strengthen our economy post-COVID-19, as Fiji is a farming nation.

Wycliffe is encouraging the partnership of the Government and NGOs to help in awareness programs on biodiversity. He says if these programs are not done and people are not educated then the Ministry and other parties have no moral obligation to hold anyone accountable.
