Impersonator claiming to be an LTA officer requested for funds for the purchase of taxi permits

The Land Transport Authority of Fiji is urging people to be careful after a screenshot of a message was circulated on social media where someone impersonating to be an LTA officer had requested for funds to be transferred to his personal M-PAiSA account for the purchase of taxi permits.

LTA’s Acting CEO, Irimaia Rokosawa says if anyone claiming to be an LTA employee offers services outside their branches, people should request to see their ID and get details regarding the branch they work for.

Rokosawa says people should also have the information double checked by the Manager of the branch.

He says people should always be vigilant and consider whether the offer is realistic as it is very unlikely that a member of their team will randomly approach someone and offer a taxi permit out of the blue.

Rokosawa says they do not want anyone to lose their hard-earned money, especially during these trying times.
