Minister for Local Government, Premila Kumar

Minister for Local Government, Premila Kumar has admitted that some municipal council staff have taken bribes to get things done for the benefit of a particular person, and she also says illegal development is rife in Nasinu and Nausori.

Kumar made these comments in a community meeting with the residents of Wainibuku where she also says that people are doing shortcut work with the contractors and engineers, and sometimes even the council staff are involved.

Kumar adds that some of the council policies do not work and it is through the people that the policies can change.
