The ill-treatment of government workers doing development works in and around the Tailevu Province should not be condoned.

Tailevu Provincial Council Chairman Rusiate Tudravu made these comments at the Tailevu Provincial Council meeting in Nausori Village Hall after they received a report that some workers doing road developments were allegedly ill-treated by some villagers in Verata.

Tudravu says two brothers from Naloto in Verata allegedly swore at the road workers.

He adds that this type of behaviour should not be condoned as the government is doing all it can to ensure no Fijian is left behind in their effort to develop the country.

Tudravu says government officials and development partners who are visiting villages should be respected and well looked after.

Tudravu has called on the village heads to advise their people not to hinder developments that are underway.

He says he has also spoken and advised district officers to look into this matter.
