"I have always been honest and always will be."
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama stated this to the landowners of Rakiraki during a public consultation adding that he wants to speak directly to the landowners that the government is dedicated to preserving and protecting iTaukei land.
He told the landowners not to believe any other stories as the land that belongs to the iTaukei will belong to them forever and this is guaranteed in the constitution.
Bainimarama also told the people in Rakiraki that we are in the election year but people know his commitment to each of the cane farmers does not depend on what is on the political calendar.
The Prime Minister and Minister for Sugar stressed that he has always been with the cane farmers at grassroots level updating them on what’s happening and where the industry is heading.
