Parents are being urged to spend more time with their children as the Minister for Education Premila Kumar has highlighted that she receives daily updates of things that happens in schools such as students committing suicide, students found with suicide notes and drug-related problems.

While speaking at the Deenbandho Memorial School prefects induction, Kumar says her team sends her daily messages of things that happen in a school and the past few days have not been good for her.

She says if parents nurture their children from a tender age, they will not face such problems when they reach teenage years.

The Minister is calling on all parents to spend more time with their children.

Kumar also reminded the new prefects, to never set two rules for their friends and other students.
